BandingPOPd: Software to investigate the USGS bald eagle banding and encounter data in the Northeast United States

Bald eagle populations rebounded in the Northeast United States (NE) in recent decades, but it was unclear whether the rebounding population was due to in-situ reproduction and growth, from asymmetric dispersal, or both? This software was used in conjunction with independently collected encounter and banding data from the USGS Patuxent Bird Banding Laboratory to identify whether dispersal of breeding age bald eagles was asymmetric in the NE between 1990 and 2018. We define the NE as the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.
